A word from the artist, Yunus Chkirate:
I'm a self-taught multidisciplinary artist from Montreal, exploring various mediums to translate my emotions into creations. My work is not limited to aesthetics; it must capture an emotion or a story, creating a work of meaning. Although I prefer painting, I also use steel, photography, video, performance and dance to engage the viewer.
Of Moroccan and Italian origin, my creativity began in childhood. After studying social sciences and fashion marketing, I developed a keen sense of culture and aesthetics, reinforced by my experience in the fashion industry.
My first exhibition in 2011 helped me find my calling, and since then I've participated in various exhibitions and public projects. I am currently pursuing new projects in the United States to elevate my artistic practice.
